In commemoration of World Youth Skills Day on 15th July, the International Youth Edu-Skills Foundation (IYESF) co-hosted an Instagram Live session with the BRICS Student Commission. This year marks the 10th anniversary of World Youth Skills Day, declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.
The conversation during the session focused on this year’s theme: “Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills.” The theme highlights the growing influence of artificial intelligence and its transformative impact on how we live, learn, and work. A key focus of the discussion was how institutions and infrastructure must evolve to equip young people with future-ready skills.
The session was co-hosted by Asfia Kulsoom, Project Manager at IYESF, and Thembelihle Mpungose, Secretary General of the BRICS Student Commission.
The live session ran for nearly an hour and explored several subtopics, including:
The Significance of Digital Literacy
The Digital Divide – Access, Affordability, and Inclusivity
Digital Transformation Reshaping Industries
Digital Responsibility & Ethics
The conversation concluded with representatives from both organizations sharing upcoming initiatives aligned with the themes discussed during the session. It was also announced that this Instagram Live session marks the first in a series of global conversations to be hosted on Instagram Live, in collaboration with youth organizations and youth leaders. The series will focus on some of the most pressing issues facing young people today, aiming to foster dialogue, awareness, and collective action.
