The SUR Programme 2026 hosts about 15 undergraduate biology or medical students from around the world to pursue an independent lab-based research project over the course of eight weeks. At the end of the summer, students present the results of their research in a poster symposium and submit a written report. Students also attend weekly academic and social activities.

A scholarship is awarded to all selected participants that pays for travel to and from Lausanne from the country of the student’s university, accommodation and food.

Eligibility:

• The programme is geared towards students in biology, medicine or a related discipline with a strong focus on biological sciences.

• Having prior research experience is not a selection criteria.

• Eligible applicants will have completed two years of bachelor's degree and must be enrolled in their third year at the time of the programme.

Support for students:

• The program coordinator will arrange and pay for the housing.

• The programme provides a scholarship of approximately CHF 1’500 to cover other living expenses.

• Limited funds are available to cover justified costs of travel to Lausanne. In general, up to CHF 500 for European travel and CHF 1’200 for overseas travel is covered.
